Lumeni Falls are in the Matopos – in the communal land south of the National Park. They don’t run all year round, and the view from there is spectacular. There are no signposts and the road is pretty horrendous…
The climb to the falls is fun – the last time we went, it was a lovely day: it rained and for a Matabele, rain is everything. Our (New Zealand) guest was impressed that it rained at all!
The rocks are massive…the water disappearing for a time, before roaring out from under rounded boulders.
I swear this rock should fall off with a gentle shove…mmm look at the next photo – it’s the same rock on the left. Maybe a little more than a shove!
From the falls, you can see hills around Gwanda…far, far in the distance
I climbed down along a goat path. This is the view looking back up…see the tiny people?
I took two pictures of trees at Lumeni…
Amazing place

100%
We often take visitors – great place to commune with nature and there are several good hills to climb.
If you want to test out your vehicle, its also a good place!
Hello Frankie,
May i have directions to Diana’s pools and the kms from Byo city centre. If you have any contacts for the place, it would be very helpful
Travel from Byo to Mawabeni – about 60km. then take the dirt road towards Sikoveni, turn left at the tee junction and then right at the next road – the falls are just before Zhilo school – you would do best to ask exact directions there. Plug the following into google maps and it will show you where it is https://www.google.com/maps/place//@-20.5427563,28.8836968,1201m/data=!3m1!1e3
Hi Frankie, How far are they away from Diana’s Pools. Are they on the same road that goes down towards Balla Balla?

You go throough Mawabeni and turn left at Sikoveni – you go towards Diana’s pools and just after a little bridge you will see a road turning to your right…Im not sure if there are any signposts any more – you go for 17km along there and then you will need to email me for the directions! The top of the falls are not signposted at all and its pretty difficult to find them and the road is a goat track. So to answer your question, as the crow flies, Im told they are very close to Diana’s Pools and according to my gardener, you can walk there from the pools (I haven’t done this!) but by car its about 21km…worth the effort though
A very special place for me – great photos.
I painted my original photo which is very similar to your first one in the sequence
