I took these two pictures on the way out of Chizarira National Park. It was hot and mid day, and I thought they captured that hazy heat I so love…
The image below was taken on our way into the Park – we hadn’t even gone to the offices yet!
National Parks were great – allowed us to store our instruments in a lockup, gave us hints of where to find game…the next day (after sleeping near this precipice) we woke to mist!! No photo opportunities!
I love those trees
Me too – love trees!

I’d never been to Chizarira – Id heard plenty about it! I admit it was nothing like in my imagination…
It stands the test of time
Those massive escarpments…and all along the Zambezi valley…a record of ages past. I often regret missing the ‘antiquity’ of human occupation in Europe: the fantastic architecture evident in the churches and public buildings. But when I compare them to the antiquity of this part of Africa, represented in the many features in our land, I don’t mind so much.

I’m pretty botanically challenged, but even I could see lots of things I didnt recognise from this (Mat’land) end of the country
